What is Ironclad CLM?

Ironclad is a contract lifecycle management (CLM) platform that can work for small businesses as well as major corporations. It comes with all the tools you need to facilitate different types of contracts while reducing time spent on repetitive tasks such as gathering signatures and setting up approval processes.

The Ironclad Workflow Designer module makes it easy to configure new contract workflows without starting from scratch. Just upload a template, identify fields that need to be filled out, and add in stakeholders who need to either sign or approve the document. This is one example of how Ironclad can turn a complex process into something that can be completed without any friction.

Furthermore, Ironclad stores all documents and keeps track of which versions were in effect at different times. You can quickly pull up older documents to see which terms apply in a particular situation. The platform even generates snapshots of your counterparty’s experience so that you’ll have strong records if the case ever goes to court.

Ironclad also includes a long list of integrations to popular applications such as Zapier, Hubspot, Salesforce, DocuSign, OneDrive, and more. If you need an integration that’s missing, you have the option to set up a connection on your end using the Ironclad API.

Ironclad user review highlights

We analyzed 173 user reviews about Ironclad from four third-party review websites to provide this summary.

While Ironclad has generated mostly positive reviews, feedback is more mixed than we’ve seen from some of the top contract management platforms. Based on our research, whether you have a good experience with Ironclad will depend on what you’re looking for in contract management software.

Reading through user reviews, Ironclad’s flexibility and customization stood out as particularly strong points. Reviewers also mentioned that Ironclad releases regular updates to continually introduce new features and improve the service.

On the other hand, many users had trouble with the onboarding process, and there were both positive and negative comments regarding customer service. Reviewers generally agree that the support team is helpful, but the lack of live support means that it can take a while to receive a response.

  • Ease of Setup – As mentioned above, the initial setup process seems to be an issue for many users. Getting started is especially complex since Ironclad doesn’t offer any kind of free trial — you have to contact their team and request a demo to see the platform in action.
  • Ease of Use – With that being said, reviewers agree that things become easier once you get past the onboarding stage. For example, the document storage + text search features make it easy to keep tabs on every active contract in your organization.
  • Features – Ironclad’s deep functionality and customization tools make it a powerful option that’s scalable even for large businesses. This may also contribute to the difficulties with onboarding — one user noted how long it can take to take full advantage of its features.
  • Quality of Support – Users are fairly split when it comes to the quality of Ironclad’s customer service. The key point is that their team provides helpful answers, but it may take a day or longer to get the response you need.
  • Value for Money – Ironclad provides pricing on a case-by-case basis, so it’s hard to determine whether it will offer strong value for your business. We were only able to find a few isolated comments about how much specific users were paying for the service.
